However, I'm having a little issue with the authentication. I installed the website in a Windows 2003 R2 Server with IIS 6 and followed the instructions about the setup of the installation. I created an Application Pool just for the website and configured the security with the anonymous check disabled in the website. Testing the connection to an instance sharing the same server with the website it gives me no problem. In the log file appears an audit record stating that my Active directory user just logged sucessfully. However, when I try to log into an instance installed in another server the authentication fails and in the SQL Server log appears the message "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. [CLIENT: <webserver ip>]".

I'm at a loss about the source of this error. It obviuosly states that my credentials are not being sent to the server but I cannot find how to fix this.

Did I skipped something in the configuration?

Nice app and thank you for the help
Source code checked in, #74794

Checked in by server upgrade

New Comment on "Setup Instructions"

I get the following message when I try to browse? Does anyone have any idea?

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. To simplify and condense some of the responses, this is what I did:

Extract the sqlwebadmin subfolder to a folder in an existing web site.

Convert the folder to an application

Right-click on the folder / Manage Application / Advanced Settings - Change application pool to Classic .Net AppPool

Double-click on Authentication, click on Windows Authentication, click on Enable

[These next two steps you will need to adjust for your situation and security needs.]

In Active Directory Create a user called sqlWebAdmin

Create a SQL login for each person who will be accessing the databases

Now, when you go to the web administrator (yourdomain.com/sqlwebadmin) you will first get a login where you use the active directory sqlWebAdmin login. Then you will get a second login request where you specify the user and server to connect to using SQL authentication.

There are several options available once you get the issues resolved by performing the steps in the first half. You could create individual users in AD and give them permissions to the appropriate databases instead of using SQL Authentication.

Commented Issue: It doesn't work in Windows Server 2008 [18664]

When I put it in Windows Server 2008 it gives me fallowing error:

Error Message:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {10020200-E260-11CF-AE68-00AA004A34D5} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Stack Trace:
at SqlAdmin.SqlServer.Connect() in C:\SqlWebAdmin\SqlAdmin\SqlServer.cs:line 198
at SqlWebAdmin.databases.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\sqlwebadmin\www\Databases.aspx.cs:line 42

It works in server 2003
Comments: ** Comment from web user: martinpoon **
@kjustice, have you tried this?

Go to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack
(April 2009) at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b33d2c78-1059-4ce2-b80d-2343c099bcb4&displaylang=en

Download and install *** Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components ***

You may need to update SQLDMO.dll under the folder /SqlWebAdmin/bin

New Comment on "Setup Instructions"

Hi,

When the Default.aspx page is started, as suggested in step 8, this error message is displayed:

Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'SqlAdmin' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Source Error:

Line 29: public partial class Login : System.Web.UI.Page
Line 30:     {
Line 31:         SqlAdmin.Security security = new SqlAdmin.Security();
Line 32:
Line 33:         public Login()

Source File: c:\Inetpub\SqlWebAdmin\SqlWebAdmin\Default.aspx.cs    Line: 31

Are there any additional steps that need to be taken? The SqlAdmin.dll is present in the project, but how should be registered/put to use?

Thanks in advance,
Vladja

Commented Issue: It doesn't work in Windows Server 2008 [18664]

When I put it in Windows Server 2008 it gives me fallowing error:

Error Message:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {10020200-E260-11CF-AE68-00AA004A34D5} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Stack Trace:
at SqlAdmin.SqlServer.Connect() in C:\SqlWebAdmin\SqlAdmin\SqlServer.cs:line 198
at SqlWebAdmin.databases.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\sqlwebadmin\www\Databases.aspx.cs:line 42

It works in server 2003
Comments: ** Comment from web user: shalong **
I am also trying to connect to a SQL Server 2008 Database.
